In Alliance: Latin American Assembly

On the Path of Alliance in Lima, Peru

In our march within the Church, the three Congregations in Alliance (The Daughters of the Cross, Our Lady of Compassion and Servants of Mary), we were invited to the “Tent of Meeting” that is the Latin-American Assembly, in Alliance, at Lima, Peru, for which we have prepared our hearts to this grace to meet each other, also to go ahead together… Each congregation presented its charism and the history of its Institution, service in Latin America and its life today. We had times of prayer, of dialogue, of discernment, of intense personal work, in congregation and in inter- congregation.

The aim of the meeting was to know each other, to be aware of and to welcome our fragility, our strength and to see how we answer to the calls of today. Sister Marta Restrepo of the company of Mary accompanied us with precious contributions.  And of course, we felt the force of prayer by the congregations and of the Sisters of the Savior and of the Holy Virgin.

Visiting Lima...

Lima, the capital of Peru is situated on the costal pacific of the country. In spite of its colonial centre preserved, it is a metropolitan city which is one of the biggest of South America. It shelters the Larco museum and its collection of pre-Columbian arts as well as the Museum of nation that recalls the ancient civilization of Peru. The square of Arms and the XVIth century cathedral are situated in the heart of old Lima. Its architectural patrimony goes to the colonial epoch of XXth century and for this reason, the central city is classified world patrimony by UNESCO in 1991.

The Huaca Pucllana is situated in a residential area at Miraflores, Lima, initially it covered an area of 20 hectares but, actually it counts only 6. It is a big pyramid formed by adobes placed vertically instead of the traditional position that is horizontal.  Thanks to this construction, the building is more resistant to earth quakes.
