Religious life, a consecrated life...

2 February 2024: 27th World Day for Consecrated Life

This day is an invitation to all consecrated persons "to celebrate together and solemnly the marvels that the Lord has accomplished in them. To this end, they are invited to reflect on the gift they have received, to discover, with ever purer faith, the radiance of divine beauty diffused by the Spirit in their form of life, and to become aware of their incomparable mission in the Church for the life of the world" (Jean-Paul II).

It is celebrated on the feast of the Presentation of the Lord in the Temple. The purpose of this special day is to highlight the gift of consecrated persons to the whole Church, just as Mary presented Jesus in the Temple.

We, Servants of Mary, are eternally grateful to Blessed Louis-Edouard Cestac, our founder, who, in the same way, offered herself to the service of God.

We have three good reasons for celebrating this feast day:

  • To thank the Lord for the great gift of consecrated life,
  • To make consecrated life known and appreciated by the people of God,
  • To celebrate together the marvels that the Lord accomplishes in us.
