VIA: CELEBRATION OF MAYLIS' SENDING TO CAMEROON

Maylis, encouraged by the strength of generosity and solidarity...

After sharing and walking together with Maylis for four months of formation, it was time for the sending celebration. The community of Pessac of the Daughters of the Cross welcomed us together with the African novices who with music and joy were already making present the people who would welcome her.

About twenty people were present at the virtual celebration, sisters of the Servants of Mary of Anglet, Compassionists and Daughters of the Cross. From different corners of the world they witnessed the special light that shone on her face that day. We cannot forget to mention that the different accents and cultures present were once again one of the manifestations of the strength and richness of our journey in Alliance.

Together, we have witnessed once again the availability of young VIA volunteers, but this time it was a young teacher who, despite a certain fear of the heat, insects and the unknown, decided to leave.

But why did she leave? Why did she dedicate her summer vacation to an experience of solidarity? Because she feels encouraged by the strength of generosity and solidarity; because that fear has been transformed into confidence to be sent and to be a blessing for others; because she has allowed herself to be led by that inner voice (which we Christians call the "Holy Spirit") and which always urges us to live unforgettable experiences, even if at first we have to take a leap of faith.

A few days ago, Maylis arrived in Cameroon and was warmly welcomed by the community of the Compassionate Sisters. She is encouraged by the desire to meet the children and young people, to teach them to read, write and play, but she is also certain that she will learn a lot from them and with them during these 30 days of experience on the spot.

In this second stage of volunteering, let us accompany Maylis with our prayers so that the Spirit continues to surprise her with wonderful encounters where the Kingdom continues to be present in the care of the small and the fragile that has the power of life and transformation.
