LENTEN SPIRITUAL PAUSE AT ST BERNARD

Lenten spiritual pause, at the Bernardines' convent...

We are seven Sisters in community, an international community in service to others in an atmosphere of respect.

Saint Bernard is a place of prayer, recollection and welcome. Each one takes turns to lead the spiritual animation: the offices, the rosary, the Way of the Cross.

This Lenten season, we wish to live it in simplicity of heart and fidelity to prayer. We all participate in the Way of the Cross prepared by the one who is in charge. Every Sunday we have Adoration in the afternoon. Every third Sunday of the month is a day of Adoration.

In this place, the restoration of the tombs in the cemetery takes place during Lent. A team of lay people and the Sisters Servants of Mary are working there with the students, scouts, seminarians and volunteers.

A recollection for the laity has been scheduled for March 4 2023: a morning of meditation and work on the theme "You are the salt and light of the world" with time to undo and redo the tombs.

For the Bernardines, this Lent is important for:

  • intensify our vocation through personal and community prayer
  • to be diligent in Lectio Divina
  • to be faithful to the time of Adoration
  • a withdrawal into our cell or a place of silence, avoiding meetings.

We want to "undo and redo" ourselves like those lay people who have worked on this theme. We want to let go more and more of the events, of the uncomfortable attitudes of non-communication: this restores us to our proper vocation as Solitaries.

Happy Lent to all!
